How to Practice Gratitude

How to practice gratitude :-

I have been thinking about how to practice gratitude lately with everything going on with me. Recently, I had to put creating content particularly for my podcast on hold because I felt I wasn’t in the head space to talk about anything because I was dealing with anxiety.

While taking care of my mental health is a big deal, I have also been thinking about how to incorporate gratitude with life’s challenges.

Some months back I remember watching an episode on America’s got talent and in that episode a lady who was and is still battling with cancer said something very phenomenal which got me thinking… she said ” You can’t wait until everything is okay or perfect before you become happy”.

That statement she made stuck with me cos I remembered how a lot of time we put our happiness away or suspend it until everything becomes alright.

We tell ourselves that we are not allowed to be happy, or that we are not allowed to pursue other things whatever it might me or in my case I told myself that there’s so much going on right now in my life for me to make time to create content that makes me happy.

And in doing so I forgot about all of my wins and how far I have come.

There’s a verse in the Bible that says “Blessed the Lord, O my soul : and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul and forget not all his benefits. ” Psalm 103 : 1 – 2.This Bible verse simply teaches us that when we don’t bless the Lord we tend to forget all of God’s benefits.

I believe that apart from the literal meaning of blessing God, it could also mean acknowledging our journeys, our little wins, celebrating ourselves when the need arises and when it doesn’t etc. and in so doing we do not forget and become ungrateful.
