How do you want to be loved?
I saw this question some weeks back on Twitter and while the answers given by many people were amazing it got me thinking… Oluwayimika how do you want to be loved ?
The truth is I’m still figuring out this love journey, the couple of heartbreaks I have suffered has also left a bitter taste in my mouth coupled with some PTSD that I’m genuinely considering therapy.
But the question still remains How do I want to be loved?
And if I’m being sincere I think I’m gradually forgetting… I know the things I cannot take in a relationship, I know that when it’s no longer serving me then it’s time to probably walk away or perhaps when I’m being taken for granted.
So this write up is a reminder to me as I attempt to answer the question on how I want to be loved.
I want to be loved with sincerity and thoughtfulness of heart.
I want to be loved with conversations and banter.
I want to be loved with peace of mind without doubts and fear.
I want to be loved with certainty and assurance.
I want to be loved in words, in kind and in deeds.
I want to be loved in your actions.
I want to be loved with gifts, food and laughter.
I want to be loved in how you show up for me.
I want to be loved in the way you stand up for me and protect me.
I want to be loved by receiving the same energy and effort I give.
I want to be loved with respect.
I want to be loved in the way you support my dreams and create room an opportunities for me to grow.
I want to be loved tenderly, passionately and deliberately.
I want to be loved in the way you’re patient with me.
I want to be loved selflessly and consciously
I want to be loved in a way that I know that I’m seen and heard…
You’re probably reading this and thinking if there’s an end to it well I would like to say that it is definitely an in-exhaustive list because as we grow a lot of changes will occur while some of the ways we want to be loved will remain others will change and we will acquire new tastes and ways and want to be loved in those ways.
If you made it this far, I would like to know how you want to be loved, I would also like to know if you resonated with any of the ways I listed above.
