Everyone has been there. You are super pumped for the date and then you end up disappointed.
Let’s just gather here if you know you’ve been on a date that you had to endure or tell a lie to excuse yourself because of how horrible the date was.
I know I have been and even though the food was great I couldn’t wait to leave cos it felt like I was in an interview for a position and then the guy kept talking over me.
Dates are meant to be fun and even though the intention is to get to know each other the process does not need to be boring.
And then, there are dates where the people don’t put their best foot forward or the effort to impress you.
From dates were it feels like you are been interviewed, to the one were were he/she stands you up, been talked over, or dates were you have to do all the talking, whatever the situation is we can all agree that we have all had our shares of bad dates and for that we are saying Never again!
Anyway, here are a couple of dating tips that can help next time.
1. Do something that you’d enjoy — with or without your dream date.
Do something you have always wanted to do, so it doesn’t look as if you’re missing out on anything. For instance, there was a date I was meant to go for and I insisted on making it a pizza date because I felt like having pizza at the time but the guy kept making up excuses on why it could not be a pizza date so I went an had a nice time.
Thank you, next.
2. Engage your body, as well as your mind.
If you’re less of a talker suggest going to a place where most of the activity will be more like a sport such as bowling, pool, wine tasting, cookout or even just going for a walk, that way you won’t feel the pressure of having a nonstop conversation.
3. Date as many men / Women as possible.
A lot of people misinterpret one’s decision to go on a date as agreeing to be in a relationship with the person and having such expectations can lead off to a bad start when things don’t go as planned.
Go out as often as you can so you can meet more people and if going out can be a struggle then sign up to dating apps or enlist the services of agencies who are into the business of relationships either way date as many men/women as possible.
So Bunmi didn’t work out? Big – deal you are seeing Chika next week.
4. Ask questions they’ll love to answer.
As much you’re ready to delve into questions try not to make the person at the other end feel uncomfortable or like they came for an interview.
Keep in mind that open-ended questions can help bring the conversation to a deeper level.
5. Check your bill-paying etiquette.
It’s fine to split the bill and it is also fine if he is deciding to pay.
However, you should never go on a date thinking that he will pay, always bring your own money just in case.
6. Leave your troubles behind.
A date is not the place to talk about your troubles or the challenges you’re facing. There will be room for all that when you guys have decided to be official but till then keep the troubles out of your date life.
7. Wear something you’re comfortable in.
Wear something you’re comfortable in at the same time don’t forget to look ravishing oozing out the right kind of appeal.
